Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing But A number. The album came out as Gold at the age of just 15 years old. R. Kelly heavily influenced this collaboration, and helped to bring the artist to the forefront. In 1996 she collaborated with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland in her album, One In A Million, that included the top-selling single If Your Girl knew. With the debut of the album Aaliyah won international acclaim for her performance as an R&B artist. The year 2000 saw her appeared alongside the martial arts icon Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver spotted her in an awards show. In 2002, she appeared in the vampire movie Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. The Matrix Sequels followed, featuring Zee as the lead character. The year 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003 the singer was nominated for four Grammy awards. She is an Indian-American of her first generation, who was born in Connecticut. Mann is the abbreviation used for her husband's first name Mankad. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as her professional names. Though she started her career in film and TV with a few minor roles her acting career gained growth in the latter half of 2000s. Other notable works she has done include Leverage 2012, Suits 2013, and Grey's Anatomy 2017. In addition, she has appeared in commercials for big companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
