Selena
She was a designer, singer and performer who broke through the barriers of the world of music. She was at the same time an American-Mexican traditional star who bound together both realms of music in an unison way. And she delivered excellent Tejano music to an affluent public. Her untimely death splintered her growing popularity and, it is what happens often the moment a brilliant, warm celebrity dies prematurely, it left many to mourn all the potential she had not yet tapped into. In the aftermath, fans have been inspired over time to dig to work even more in order to ensure her achievements remain unnoticed. The tragic shooting death of Tejano singer Selena caused a resurgence within the Latino community that could be compared to the reactions to the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. Selena was a hugely adored singer throughout Latino communities across North America her music crossed cultural boundaries to touch people young and old alike. Selena, a sexy and glamorous stage performer who is sometimes referred to as Latina Madonna, was also an actress offstage. Selena was also active in antidrug campaigns.
